October 11, 1863 in Franklin, MI.  He survived the war and was mustered out on November 11, 1865 at Memphis, TN.  He applied for a veteran’s pension on August 13, 1890.     Joseph was the son on Peter (1813-1859) and Roseanna Tadaroot (1811-1863) Van Every of Franklin Village, Southfield Twp., MI.  Joseph worked as a miller in the family business both before and after the war.  Joseph and his wife Sarah MCusple (1849-1905) married on July 28, 1867 had at least two children:  Victor A (1872-1924) and Iva C (b.1880). Following the death of his wife Sarah Joseph lived with his son Victor, daughter-in-law and granddaughter in Bloomfield Twp., Oakland County, MI.  He spent the last years of his life in Pontiac State Hospital where, at age 76, he died from arteriosclerosis with a contributory factor of senility. Joseph S. Van Every is buried with his wife Sarah in the Franklin Cemetery, Franklin, MI.
