George H Kinne

22nd MI Infantry, Company A

(1838 – 1863)  

     George H. Kinne was born about 1838 and was probably the son of Ralph and Lucy Kinne of Southfield (indexed as Kenny in the 1850 census).  At age 24 he enlisted in the 22nd MI Infantry, Company A in Farmington, MI on August 11, 1862 as a private.  At the time of enlistment he listed his residence as Southfield, MI.   Seven months after enlistment George Kinne died of disease on March 6, 1863 in Lexington, KY where he is buried in the Lexington National Cemetery, grave #221.  In 1863 his wife Rhoda S. Kinne applied for a pension as his widow.
