22nd MI Infantry, Company B

Eugene Carr was born about 1843 – 1846 in Dunkirk, Chautauqua County, NY. He enlisted as a private in the 22nd Michigan Infantry, Company B on August 29, 1864 in Pontiac, MI. He survived the war and was mustered out on June 26, 1865 at Nashville, TN.
Carr is enumerated in 1880 as hired help on the Harrison Young farm in Bloomfield Township, MI and the 1900 census lists him as a boarder in the Maria H. Laing household in Bloomfield Township. Carr applied for a veteran’s pension in July of 1890.
Carr remained single and passed away on July 14, 1907 in Birmingham, MI at the age of 64. His death certificate lists the causes of death as “apoplexy with a contributing factor of paralysis” and lists his occupation as “Day Laborer Old Soldier” Eugene Carr is buried in the Franklin Cemetery, Franklin, MI.
